Halloween

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

So, Halloween is here once again. We was walking to the local corner shop earlier today and saw some kids dressed up, knocking on doors.

They haven’t visited our house yet… think it’s because the path leading to our house is too dark. :D

Work was amusing today - we was loading some laptops on a brand new laptop trolley. Plugged to the wall power point. Switched it on. Pow. The fuse trip went off. Along with 5 other classrooms with PCs. Oops…

Blame the electrician who says it should be OK to handle that sort of power! Think they will be sorting it out soon… but it was amusing to see some people trying to find out what is happening.

Fireworks at our local rugby ground this Friday… think we might go if there’s no rain during that time. Need to check the weather.

Happy Halloween to yer all!

Last Night’s…

Monday, October 29th, 2007

… Top Gear show was awesome. The super small car vrooming around the BBC building including the BBC News area - that had got us laughing out loudly! What a great show.

In other news, we have decided to do some work toward the house. 1st one up is to get the front garden sorted. New fence around as the old one are crumbling away. Then the back garden and then finally the bathroom.

Since the garden work doesn’t require ay planning it should be straightforward, which is why we have decided to leave the bathroom work until last to give us plenty of time to do some planning which involves knocking off a wall between the bathroom and toilet room.

Need to draw up some plans. :D

Clock change

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Anyone willing to change our clock by 1 hour back?

It’s annoying… next time we buy our clocks for the house, it will need to be radio controlled! :D

Got up a “6:30am” (new change) when it’s 7:30am (previous change) so was larking around on the ‘net for a bit before heading out to the back garden to cut the grass for the last time for this year. Need to do the front garden soon.

After that, will need to tidy up the porch cupboard and move the stuff from the kitchen cupboard to the porch. Then the kitchen cupboard will be useful once again for kitchen related stuff!

Maybe swimming this afternoon… depending on how we’re feeling.

Hey all

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Been a while since I did a proper post! No excuse, just didn’t have very much to say as I have been focusing on money saving (paying off some stuff) and planning the next step of house improvements. Plus work has taken up my time too.

And of course, playing with my new phone - MDA Vario III - the inbuilt GPS is sooo useful! Just load up Google Maps Mobile, enable Tracking and it pinpoint where I am standing. :D

I also ordered & received the new 6GB MicroSDHC card for this phone, it’s so tiny! Almost smaller than the 5p coin - amazing technology. With that, I have been busy with installing various software & games on it.

I may go into more dept on this later on. But for now, other news.

Remember the time change this Sunday! I hear you boo, I agree. Interesting read regarding car drivers and how it will cause more accidents from the time change

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=17058

Don’t let this happen to you.

Tonight, Halloween fancy dress at the Deaf Club, with a twist - pirate fancy dress! :P Should be a good night.

Not sure of our plans for tomorrow, more likely to be house improvements related.

Oh, can anyone recommend me a good, soft touch keyboard for me? I type softly and this crap keyboard doesn’t pick up my key presses, so it’s annoying to go back and edit the words I mistyped. Not too expensive, but a good keyboard would be good…

Breakfast time.

RR in the aid of Cancer Research - 24th/25th Nov, Norwich

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Interested in having your car on a rolling road to raise money for Cancer Research and at the same time, find out what figures your car achieved?

Then read on…

Clive Atthowe Tuning in Norwich is hosting a “Dyno Open Weekend” to launch their brand new Dastekn Dyno equipment. You can turn up during that weekend to have your car RR’ed for just £35 (inc VAT). This includes a printed graph of your bhp/torque and where possible boost/AFR. All vehicle types are welcome.

Above is a photo of their new equipment, Clive showed me around the new unit on the other day and I’m well impressed with the new technology. It’s now in their own unit (inside the building), sound proofed, better fan to cool down the engine (25bhp fan!!) and the unit has two windows, where you can peek inside plus a monitor on the outside to see the graph being displayed live.

The date is Saturday 24th November (8:30am till 5:30pm) and Sunday 25th November (9am till mid afternoon). The power runs will be on a first come first served basis. There will also be various weekend specials available, details on the days.

All profits raised will be donated to Cancer Research - http://www.cancerresearchuk.org

Car dropped off…

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Dropped off my car to the Ford garage this morning at 7:30am. Bloody cold outside as I walked back home. Brrrr

Plans for today is to relax, watch TV and sort out stuff.

Hope weather will stay nice for Alton Towers tomorrow - part two!  Think we will have the same driver so hopefully the coach won’t hit the same lump of metal at the same location as before. :D

Things Happening…

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

My New Phone…

Received my new phone this morning and I’m loving it. I’ve already ordered a new 6GB MicroSD memory card, so for now I’m just tweaking the phone and making notes of what software are installed, etc.

The inbuilt GPS is pretty good.

Photos of the MDA Vario III is now online.

My Car

Clutch is still OK so far… one more day then it’s off to the garage!

My Digital Camera

My digital camera, Canon IXUS 500 is now dead. Every time I power it on, the lens would just extend halfway and stops. It is also making a whirring noise and displaying the error message of E18 on the LCD.

It’s almost 4 years old so I guess it’s time for a new one but I don’t know what?

Mmm, time for bed I guess.

Whew!

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

It’s only Tuesday and we already had a busy week!

On Monday (yesterday), we stayed to wait for the gas man to turn up to fix the problem which I mentioned last Friday. They turned up about half nine and discussed about what they will be doing.

And gave us the quote of £107 - all just to re-fit the Gas Flue Terminal which has fallen off from the roof. But then since we wanted to have the job done without the hassle of calling around local companies for a quote, we said go ahead.

And it only took them 30 minutes. That including getting the ladder up to the roof, removing the old cement, putting in new cement and refitting the terminal and taking the ladder down.

When they left, we went to work.

Got to work and what do I find on my desk? A parcel from Novatech and inside it is Windows Home Server.

Came home in the evening, we had my parents popping round to collect their cat which we looked after for the past 2 weeks. We missed the cat when she’s gone. Made us to think if we should get our own cats… but someday in the future!

Now for today, went to work as usual, with the ran pissing down. Found out that the phone I wanted, MDA Vario III has been in & out of stock all week and they didn’t call me to sort it out.

So contacted T-Mobile Norwich shop - all gone. Contact T-Mobile Sales, all gone too but promised to call me back when they have some in stock.

Came home, sorted out some paperwork, when the phone rang. It’s from T-Mobile. And they have the phone in stock. So ordered it straightaway and will get it tomorrow. w00t, can’t wait!

Currently installing WHS and setting it up, just waiting for it to finish while cooking dinner at the same time.

Then relax in front of the TV… it’s CSI Night. :D

Gas man - Part two

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Currently waiting around for the gas man to turn up between 9am to 10am to fix the fault from last Friday’s gas servicing. Hopefully it won’t cost too much…

Then depending on what time they finish, we might go to work.

Hope we won’t have to wait around too long.
