Work…

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Work has fallen apart and I won’t bother going into any details. But I’m working overtime tomorrow, so the extra money would be good. :D

Started using the robot hoover tonight and it’s doing the job pretty well. Have taken some videos and will edit it, but as I don’t have time tonight and all day tomorrow (as I’ll be at work) I think it will be at least this Sunday where I can edit and post the video. :P

Best of luck to Lisa & Daniel who are going to tour the world for 6 months or more, with the 1st flight out of London tomorrow afternoon, heading to New York!

Need an early night… have to get up early tomorrow!

It’s on the way. :D

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Just received an email from ebuyer, informing me that the Robot Vacuum Cleaner has been dispatched! So it should mean I should get it by tomorrow if all goes well with ShittyLink.

I’ll give it a short review when I get it. :)

In other news, anyone here use Facebook? I remember about 2 or 3 weeks ago, where very few of people I know use it. Then all of sudden, there was a big increase numbers of people signing up to it and adding me. It’s starting to look like Facebook is popular.

So popular, Facebook is going to add adverts! :/ Hopefully it won’t be into-your-face advert…

Work is okay, but we are starting to rush to get most of the stuff done, ready for the start of the term. I am sooo loooking forward to take a week off from work (if I can!) and go somewhere nice, if we can find somewhere to go, that’s it…

Over & out.

Gym induction

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

The induction at the gym this morning went well. The guy took our details, our weight, height, blood pressure, etc and worked out a suitable workout programme for us.

My stats are:

Weight: 90.3kg (14.22 stones)

Height: 181cm (1.81m, 5.9″)

Body Fat: 29.6% (26.8kg)

Blood Pressure: 128/66

Resting Heat Rate (RHR): 62

Hmm, so from the stats, I’m slightly overweight. But a good blood pressure I was told.

Our workout programme is being sorted out on a paper which we should be able to pick up tomorrow (if they are open on Bank Holiday, need to find out) and start doing it 3 times a week (Mon, Wed & Fri) with swimming on Sat or Sun.

We’re looking forward to it. :D

Shopping & Swimming

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Yesterday, we went to the city for some shopping for clothes & other stuff. Topped up my car and made our way to the gym.

One of our gym membership includes unlimited use of the swimming pool, steam room and also sauna room. And that’s where we went yesterday.

It was great! No kids around. Very few people around (about 5 other people at most). Much, much better than the public swimming pool! We felt much more relaxed. We’re sure we will be going to use it more often, perhaps once every weekend.

Today at 10am is our induction at the gym, so we better get ready then.

My Day

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Today, I celebrated my birthday by going to work. Boo. :(

However it was not too bad… at 10am, I drive to Waitrose with a workmate to buy some cakes to give away in the ITS dept. As soon as I put it out, it was pretty taken up quickly. :D

Then we walked to the city to check out the new building to se what sort of work are needed to be done before the opening in Sept. And from what I can see,  they do need to work harder to finish it on time as it’s still not done. :/ However to make things more fair, the first two top floors are done and just requires some computers connecting up, but the ground floor and 1st floors are the important bit of the whole building and they are still doing it. We are going back there next week with our stuff. Should be an interesting week next week.

We then headed back to work. I emailed my boss to see if I can have the trest of the afternoon off and he said yes. So I finished work early and went out for dinner with the missus. It was lovely.

Got some stuff from Tesco before hading home to relax.

I got the following:

* Perfume from the missus

* £20 from missus’ parents

* £15 gift voucher from my sister and her b/f, including Venus Flytrap plant

Still waiting for the present from my mum and whoever out there. :)

I also got something for myself… a cool Robot Vacuum Cleaner :D Yeah, I’m a gadget freak…

NCIS is on tonight!

Sharp Unveils Plans to Market 20mm Thick LCD HDTV

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

From the news, quoted:

Sharp hopes to have LCD HDTVs on the market by 2010 that are only 20mm thick

The world of HDTVs and super models has something in common; everyone wants to be the skinniest. Just when we thought a bit over three inches for an LCD HDTV was svelte, Sharp looks to change our minds with its latest design.

Looks pretty good… but I wonder how much it will cost when it’s released?

We survived!

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

First session at the gym went well. Felt much more comfortable than the local gym we used to go before. Going to make an habit of going there three times a week and see how it’s progressing.

Work was okay. This week is enrollments so we saw loads of students applying for courses. Only a couples of weeks till the start of the term. Then we need a holiday! Still have not decided where to go, tho.

2 days till my birthday. :(

Tomorrow is the day…

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

So tomorrow is our first day at the gym.

After work today, we went shopping at JJB Sports to buy new trainers and long pants - as my old trainers has been pretty worn out.

Only need to do tomorrow morning is to find a T-shirt to wear for the gym. And some bottled water.

Which mean we am going to have an early night as I know we will be exhausted after the gym! :)

We did it…

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Went to the gym in Norwich and we’re now a member. Of course we haggled. The joining fee is £25 per person which includes a wrist strap with our ID in it so we can use it to enter the gym, our locker, etc and of course a “welcome pack” bag with some freebies in there and a towel. They refused to give it to us for free so we haggled it down to £15 each. Better than nothing.

We start this Wed with the induction this Sat to outline our fitness programme and go from there.

Looking forward to it. :D

In other news, work was ok. Not busy as I thought it would be. But it might be tomorrow where the new NAS servers arrives and we need to set them up.

Weather has been piss poor lately. Looking outside just now, it’s raining very heavy with some water puddles on our front garden and flowing of water along the road.

We haven’t had the chance to enjoy the Summer apart from the lovely weather we had when we was in Silverstone 2 weeks ago. And Sept is not far to go. Ugh.

By the way, Pot Hole is Evil. Help the car users - report it to your local council if you see them so they will fix it. Just came across one and it almost had my car wheel off! Reported it and they will look into it soon. They better cover it up soon or I’ll do a Top Gear style of repair work! :D

Relaxing Sunday

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

Today, I have been relaxing and catching up with TV show from my HDD recorder. I watched about 7 or 8 different TV shows between 8am and 1pm. :) Then I walked to the corner shop to get some bread for our lunch and watched more TV.

We had rain pretty all day, so didn’t bother going out.

Oh yeah and I have been going through my bank statement to see what changes I can make to save up more money, i.e. spreadsheet of incomings and outgoings and see which bits I can change/stop direct debit/standing order, etc and it was interesting to see where my money were going.

So, yeah, that’s our Sunday. :D

Tomorrow, the biggest work we will ever have starts at work. We have a new building in the middle of the city, which will be our new “National Academy for Finance”.

We have exactly 2 weeks to install, fit and set up all computers, wireless networking, servers, laptops, etc in that time period of 2 weeks until the door opens for the students to use.

I’ve looked at the building plans and it looks very nice. Lots of plasma screens, students will be using laptop for class use and when the class is done, they put the laptops on a docking trolley. The building will have all of the latest technology - IP phone, wireless networking, “future” furnishing, doors, etc etc. And we will be seeing them for the first time tomorrow.

So that would be an interesting 2 weeks! More on this later, I hope.

After work tomorrow, we will be re-joining the gym, but this time, it will be in Norwich as they have more equipments than our local gym. However it’s going to cost a bit more, but then we can afford it so hopefully it will be worth it. I’m looking forward to it a bit but I’m sure we will enjoy it when we starts.

Think I’m going to sort out the living room and then head to bed.

Overtime at work…

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Today, I was at work with workmate to power on the servers as we shut them down for electrical work.

As we were powering them back on, some thing caused the network switches not to accept any network traffic for some reasons. Therefore we had the domain controller, the firewall and the DNS not communicating with each other, which was odd.

Then all of sudden, it worked fine afterward. And we don’t know what caused it, so it was a bit odd. Network guy is going to look into it.

Only one server had the PSU dead, but the 2nd one is working fine, so we will need to order a new one.

And the server room got a bit warm… the air con stopped working! So had to call out someone to look at the electricity supply.

Then one of the server was acting weird, where it doesn’t accept any logons for a specific software. After a few reboots and troubleshooting, the problem went away. *shrugs*

Finally, some computer, which will be used to enroll students next week, doesn’t work for some reasons. So more work on that.

12pm - 7pm. That’s how long we was at work trying to sort out everything. It’s weird that if you leave the servers running all the time,  it doesn’t give you any problems. But turn them off overnight, it acts up. The joy of computing. :D

So how was your Sat then?
