What a CRAZY (and wasted) day!

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Today was the day of the new TV delivery. We got up and was ready at 8am.

And we waited.

Waited.

12:39pm - e-mail from the company, saying that the delivery company tried to call us but was unsuccessful.

Of course, that’s because I did not give them the phone number. I already told them that I am deaf and a phone call was not needed. Just deliver it straight.

So I had to get the missus to contact them and find out what is going on. They checked my account and found out that my phone number is not listed. So how did they “try” to call us when the phone number is not even listed! Hmm.

So gave them the phone number, so they can pass it on to the delivery company.

And then we waited again.

Waited.

Nothing. So gave them a call again and found out that they did try to call but was unsuccessful. They got the wrong phone number! Grrr.

Got in touch directly with the delivery company, and noted that they still have the wrong phone number. Gave them the correct number but, by then it was almost 5pm.

They said it was too late to deliver it as they are based in Rugby near Brimingham and they are unable to deliver this week, nor this weekend. ARGH.

So called the company to find out WTF is going on and they was sorry about the mix up, etc etc. We said that we have wasted a while day waiting for them to turn up. We used up our leave for nothing. We got them to talk to the delivery company and get them to deliver this Sat. They ummed and ahhed and they will try their best.

10m mins later, phone rang and they said OK.

So, the new TV won’t be coming till this Sat. :(

However, we have already made a start with writing a letter of complaint because:

1) We gave them our phone numbers THREE times. They still got it mised up

2) I already told them that I am deaf and they don’t need to call me to check that I am home.

3) They waited until it was nearly too late to do the delivery (on purpose or not? I dunno)

4) And we wasted our valuable time and the day off from work for nothing.

Now we are hoping it will be delivered this Sat…

I am a little disappointed with the company - I have used them for many years and never had this problem until now. But then this was the biggest and expensive order I have made with them. But I don’t think it will make any difference anyway? *shrugs*

Videos and Subtitles Online

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

To you all who does VLog but doesn’t add subtitles - please consider using this service:

http://www.projectreadon.com

Just upload a video to YouTube, give them the URL to the video and they will do the rest for you (typing the subtitles).

Then you will have done your bits of helping Deaf people to have 100% access to the VLog (or any other normal) videos by reading the subtitles!

Or fancy doing it yourself? Then check out dotSUB - they work kinda the same way as WiKi - anyone can edit the subtitles and the subtitles goes on top of the video.

If you have done something for your Vlog with these services above, send me the link and I’ll be happy to watch it at last. :D
