The Garden

Monday, April 30th, 2007

This is what we have been busy all day on Sunday (yesterday)

Veg Patch

Front garden

In other news, the TV’s order is now in “Packing” stage so I would suspect it will be dispatched tomorrow, which means we should get it by Wed. Need to take a day off to receive the order. Can’t wait! :D

Spotted a nice TV stand at Argos and reserved it so we went there after work to collect & pay for it. And found out that it has dropped down by £30, so that saved me a bit of money! :D

Put it together this evening and it’s done - photo - hope you like it. :D

Now we need something to put on it… yep, the TV! Roll on Wed…

Tomorrow, parents are coming over to see us and check out the new sofa, the updated porch, and anything else to show them since the last time they popped round.

And now… TV time.

Your worst nightmare is here…

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

… and is appearing on your screen!

Yeah, I know, I haven’t posted very much - busy lifestyle, you see. :D

Following up on my last update - since the Norfolk Council offered to move the street light away from our driveway for free, we have been busy looking around for a quote for a new bricked driveway and as of yesterday, I have signed the contract for a new driveway.

However they will now put the job “On Hold” as we are waiting for Norfolk Council to rip out the old street light and move it to the new location. That will take around 2 weeks (should be this week by then) and then around 3 to 5 weeks for EDF (Electricity company) to rewire the cabling which *MAY* involve digging up next door’s road (oops? but then they don’t have a driveway anyway) to reach the new location of the street light.

Once this is done, the new driveway will take place. So we are looking at June or so. A but of wait but then we could save up easily anyway.

The hunt for a new LCD TV has come to an end with buying a new TV yesterday… a Samsung 40″ :D Should be getting it this week, hopefully by Tuesday or Wed. That will now put a stop on our rented TV which we have been renting for the past 3 years or so. That reminds me, I need to end the rental contract.

For the house… not much has been done, just been looking up on partition wall (yeah, still!), need to do up the garden, which will happen today and other stuff that I can’t think of now.

Oh yeah and need to research on new tyres as my car’s tyres needs replacing as it’s almost worn out. Anyone used Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3?

Anyway, that’s what has happened since the last time I posted. :)

Hey there!

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Long time no post! :D

Has been busy last week with painting, putting up new blinds around the house and other stuff. What a great week as I’ve done loads of stuff that I have been putting off for the last few months. So a big job completed. :D

Porch is done. Just need a new partition wall set up. Still researching on this.

I’ve been playing my friend’s Wii and while it’s great so far, I’m STILL not sure if I should get it or not… *shrugs*

Lovely weather in the past few days.

On an eBay related note… sold a few things which means less crap in the house! And listed more stuff. Still got loads more to list…

And back to work tomorrow… might get an early night.

A busy day

Monday, April 16th, 2007

1st day of my week off from work and I’ve been busy, sweating my arse off. :D

It went something like this

9am - visited work to pick up something that I forgot to collect last week

9:30am - visted UEA to see a friend and give him some stuff. Had a chat and borrowed his Wii so I can try it out before deciding to buy it or not (thanks!)

10am - Homebase - got some paint and other stuff for the house

10:30am - Visited Ford garage in Norwich to find out how much for air con servicing and also cambelt replacement. Ouch is all I can say. Need to visit the other two Ford garages in my area to compare prices.

11am - Sainsburys for some food for today & tomorrow

12pm - Got home, had my lunch

1:15pm - Removed old putty of the bathroom’s edges and applied a new one.

2pm - Started sanding and filled up holes of the garage’s window frame. Also 2 coats of paint on one window frame while the other window will need to be done tomorrow as the filler is still wet.

3pm - Rest

4pm to 5pm - Made a start of clearing out the porch and put the stuff in the garage. Then washed down the wall with a cloth to get rid of dust and other bits.

My next plans are:

* Porch - paint skirting board, paint celing and then finally paint the wall

* The other garage’s window frame - sanding and painting

* Measure the porch for new partition wall and drywall and work out what stuff I need. Note to self - pick up a DIY book from library on this as I never have done this before and see if I can do it or not. :D

There might be other things I need to do i.e. cut grass on front & back garden, turn over soil on the veg patch and other things.

Wow, can’t believe I’ve done loads on the first day. But I think I did well…

I deserve some Wii playing tonight! :D

Amusing story for you to read…

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Yesterday, we had someone posting a leaflet to every house around this “area” from one of the guy who was running the South Norfolk Conservative party.

On the leaflet, it has their “Our Six pledges to you”, stating the six things that they will do for us. One of them were “We will put our environment first in everything we do”

However on the leaflet, it made no mention if the leaflet came from recycled paper or not - usually it is noted on the small print. But not this one.

So I fired off an e-mail to find out last night.

This morning, checked e-mail - nothing.

Went out and came back to find a A4 paper in our post and it made us crack up with laughing. On the paper, it has our address handwritten on the top of the photocopied paper with a cat logo on it with the text underneath it - “9Lives - printed on recycled paper” and handwritten his name and phone number.

I’m not sure what he was trying to prove but what a great comeback from him!

I’ve scanned it for you to see. :D

The weekend…

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

Sat afternoon

We went to Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden - what a great visit. The weather was lovely too so it was a good walk around the large land of trees, gardens and land! We also went on the boat trip and had an hour tour around the Norfolk Broads.

Plently of photos, which I will upload soon.

Sat evening

Worked in the bar at the local Deaf Club and they had Easter Bingo & Raffle. I won a prize from the raffle which was an Easter Egg. Mm, yummy.

Sunday morning

Had someone here to fit our new lights in the living room and kitchen as I wasn’t sure about the electrical cable as it looks dodgy to me, so I decided to leave it to an professional.

And it turned out that I was right - whoever fitted it did a piss poor job of doing it properly. I’m surprised it hasn’t caught fireor something else. The kitchen’s wiring was even worse! Disconnect one cable, the light in the hallway doesn’t work. Weird.

Anyway, he sorted them out and all of them are working fine and we’re happy now!

Sunday afternoon

Walked to the local corner shop as many shops out there are shut, so we didn’t have much to do apart from having lunch and watching TV.

Sunday early evening

Washed my car as it was dirty. Discovered a stone chip… on the rear boot! No idea how it happened, but need to get it fixed soon. My car is now sparkly clean. :D

I also did some work on some broken computer in the garage and also trying to fix my sister’s laptop - think it’s a dodgy HDD or memory. But having ran the full hardware check using Ultimate Boot CD, it came out fine. So no idea what the problem is. Need to install an operating system and see how it behaves.

And now…

Need to cook dinner… it’s getting late now.

HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL!

The joy of my sports car…

Friday, April 6th, 2007

Went flower shopping.

On the way home, went to different road than usual - countryside driving.

The result.

Yep, I’ve forgotten it was in the boot!! :(

Have cleaned up, fitted the flowers back in the basket but it looks dodgy now.

Outing today

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

What a great day today!

We went to Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse in Dereham and we spent almost 5 hours walking around the house and the farm, it was a good day as we have learnt a lot from it. Loads of 1950s stuff (see my earlier posting with photos), some history about the house as it was used to hold inmates and lots of animals at the farm

I was annoyed that I forgot to bring my digital camera! Nevermind… next time!

Worth a visit if you live in Norfolk. :)

To order or not to order… that’s the question

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

I’m looking at the product description.

My mouse pointer is hoovering over the “OMGBUYMEPLZ” button.

It’s the Wii

Yes, I have caught the Wii bug. But not deep enough as I am still umming and ahhing if I should buy it or not.

The game that comes with it looks good. I have not tried out Wii yet, so I am not sure if I will like it or not.

Should I or not?

Party last night

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Another successful party last night - we’ve enjoyed it. The drive was long with twisty countryside road. And we managed to find it ok, even that we got lost for a bit, just missed a turn!

Loads of photos to upload. :D

Haircut today. Need brekkie first.
