After the fridge/freezer got delivered (sorry about the picture being in wrong palce, forgot to edit it!), I left the house, picked up the missus and went to Norwich’s Carpet Right, showed them the photos on my laptop and they agreed that the carpet fitter installed the carpet wrong way round. So we arranged for a new carpet to be delivered and have it ripped out and refitted only on the dark area as it’s smaller. That will be done next Monday so that’s sorted out. All free of charge, which is good thing.

Hopefully it will be better this time and we will be watching the carpet fitter carefully. Making sure that the carpet is installed the right way before they fit it down. I wonder if we can keep the carpet once they ripped it out… hope so!

Which means we have to mve the stuff out of the living room again. Nevermind.

Anyway - nice weather today. But a bit too hot. Can’t believe how much the sun cream costs! Cheapest Icould find was £12! Why are they charging too high? They should be encouraging everyone to keep their skin safe and sell it cheaper!

*mumbles*

Going to cook dinner now.

After a few hours of waiting, its finally here. I was worried it might not =
fit the space but it managed to fit okay - just!=

Still waiting. Come on hurry up, whereever you are, comet van!

So, here I am, on my day off just because they won’t let us pick a specific=
date even that we paid 17 pounds to allow us to pick a date and time for t=
he delivery! At the moment, I am sitting on the chair at the new house, all=
alone and waiting for the delivery guy to turn up “between 8am and 6pm” - =
helpful estimated time, huh?

Its our new fridge/freezer, yay!

Sorry for the lack of updates for the past two days. The hot weather and wo=
rking around the house got us all worn out!

The past two days, we have been busy with doing up the bedroom and sorting =
out some furnishre (sp?) in the living room. We now have two single sofa, d=
inner table, side cupboard in there and more will be added in the next few =
weeks from the other house.

Van booked this morning for our trip to Kettering and MK this weekend. Shou=
ld be fun driving the van all the way there and back.
Going to be a busy weekend, and I need to plan the journey to reduce wastin=
g time.

Ok, stopping now and post this thing so I can try to find something to do!=

Starting to get used to the new carpet and we like it (apart from a small problem - see photos) - need to talk to Carpet Right and see what they say tomorrow.

We have already put some furniture in the living room.

Did some work in the bedroom and it’s all done. Need to clean out the dust and hoover the floor before putting up the wallpapers.

Needs to do more shopping tomorrow - more money to spend.

Carpet is all done and it looks good apart from some area that is bumpy. Bu=
t the man said give it time to settle down. Hope so… He said that if we a=
re not happy within 10 days, let them know and they will redo the area.

After the no show of the carpet man, we decided to carry on with the house work.

Painted the ceiling where we missed out some area, stripped out the carpet from the stairs and took them outside, next to the rubbish. However we might keep it for the garage or something.

Went to Waitrose for lunch and got to the other house to eat it and watch TV.

Then we headed to Norwich for some shopping and more paint before heading back home to watch DVD.

So a kinda slow day today.

Not looking forward to tomorrow… we need to get up very early for 8am’s carpet man! Ughhhh.

Well that was a waste time. We got to the house 15 mins before 10am.

Guess what? He was here at half eight! He left and then came back at 9:15 a=
nd left to do another job!

Called him. He said he can’t come today and has moved the date to tomorrow =
at 8am! 8am on Sunday?? Argh. We need sleep! But no choice and we said yes.=
..

Oh well. :(=

Due at 10am. Need to get readyand get our arses over to the other house. Who knows, they could be turning up early!

For the first time for 2 weeks, we are actually having a break from doing up the house! Well, we did do something small… tidied up the living room in preparation for the new carpet tomorrow. That’s all.

Work today was ok. A workmate left the dept, so we went to the pub for drinks and lunch this afternoon. Came back to work after lunch, he cleared out his desk. Everyone shook his hands, said goodbyes, etc.

Then he’s gone.

And I moved my stuff over to his desk. You see, I dislike my old desk because people walk past my back and when someone wants me, they tap me from behind and I jump easily cos I don’t hear them coming.

Now with the new desk, the wall is behind me and no one walks past my back. I have full view of the people walking past so I’m safe from getting jumped. Much better.

Work

Not much happening at wprk today, just preparing for the Summer upgrades, with some project coming in and preparing for them.

Body Shop

Left work at 3pm, so I could visit two different garage’s body shop to get some quote for covering up the large stonechip on my car’s bonnet.

Both of them recommended the same thing - repair the stone chip, respray and then lacquer the whole bonnet so it won’t look tacky, which I agree. One quoted £211 (including VAT) and another one quoted £160 (including VAT)

Not sure which one to go for… but considering that the bonnet will be stonechipped again in the future, I’m thinkng about going for the cheaper one. What does everyone think? Both of them are professional and I ahve seem some examples of their work and it does look good.

Homebase & Eating

After visiting the garages, I headed back to Norwich to pick up the missus and went to Homebase to buy a tin of paint for the living room’s last wall. We went to Pizza Express at The Forum to eat. And saw that The Forum was covered up and BBC crew was there. had a peek and found that they are filming “Ask the governor” (or something like it) however couldn’t find anything about on the BBC website. Will have to ask in Norwich’s LJ community.

House

With the new tin of paint, we finished off the last wall in the living room that doesn’t have any lick of paint. And it’s much better! Check it out yourself in my Gallery. We are thinking t give it 2nd coat f paint tomorrow, but we’ll see tomorrow evening.

Thank god tomorrow is Friday and then the weekend to relax! (well apart from Sat for the new carpet!)

Work

Slow day. Boss was off, so everyone was trying to find something to do. The Summer term is always slow because no students are here, just student exchange. I think they’re from France of Spain, not too sure.

House

Missus doesn’t feel well, so I got her home and I went to the house myself to carr yon with the painting of the skirting board and the door frame. That’s it.

Big job tomorrow, where we’re going to paint the last wall of the living room. Which means we need to buy some paint after work tomorrow. And we haven’t decided on the colour yet! Should be an interesting afternoon tomorrow…

Going to head to bed soon.

Wallpapering in the living room is all done. And it’s looking good now. And started to clear up the living room in preparation for this Sat’s carpet laying.

We also made a start on sanding the skirting board upstairs where the new carpet will be but didn’t paint. That will be done tomorrow evening.

With this Sat’s looming close by for the new carpet, we are thinking about taking this Friday off from work so we can finish off any painting job before they arrive on Sat morning. We don’t want any paint on the new carpet, don’t we?

Ohh and they have finally removed the ‘Sold’ signpost from our front & back garden at last.
