You need:
1. Antivirus
2. Antispyware
3. Firewall
4. Latest patches for Windows
5. Never use Internet Explorer
6. Only use the latest up-to-date Opera (it’s more secure than Firefox but Firefox is pretty secure too)
7. Pray because you are using Windows
8. Don’t use an Administrator account as your main. Use a normal User account instead.
9. Never use Outlook Express
10. Make sure ALL of your Microsoft software is fully up to date (such as MS Office)
11. Don’t use MSN Messenger or other official messengers - Use GAIM or Trillian et al instead
12. You’re still not praying hard enough so pray harder dammit.
13. Consider getting an Apple instead
14. If not that then get Linux - Ubuntu, SuSE, MEPIS, Fedora et al. No antivirus/firewall/anti-spyware etc needed.
Your PC is infected hence why you are getting those crap on your computer. Microsoft have even recently “recommended” that you reformat Windows every 6 months or so cos of all the security exploits…
Get Ultimate Boot CD (google for it) - reboot and do a virus scan.
If you are using a free edition of antivirus such as AVG - you should know that they are not really that brilliant. If you take a look at virus bulletin, you’ll notice that none of the free antivirus ever get 100% pass rate. The best according to them is the little known NOD32 - blazing fast and use little resources and cheap and have gotten over 30 100% awards in a row now, more than any other antivirus products. I do highly recommend NOD32…it’s fast. It’s secure. It’s bloody good. It’s only £25 for a year.
I use NOD32 on my old Windows partition, although I am not renewing the subscription since I now use Linux.
Cheers
