Today…

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

The weather has been very nice since this afternoon. I was glad because this morning, it was dull and dark but it brighten up later on.

Went out for a drive around, had lunch near the river, went for a walk around, saw a few houses, went for dinner and now we’re back home.

Very nice day. The weather has been great. :)

After getting home, I’ve been clearing out the garage a bit to get some boxes back in as we have some stuff inside the boxes which needs to be sorted out. Going to finish it off tomorrow.

Time for some TVs I think.

New bike design ditches training wheels

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

What a great idea!

Three Purdue University industrial designers who tapped into memories of their own childhood cycling misadventures have built a bike that ditches the training wheels but keeps rookies stable.

Called SHIFT, it slowly transforms from a tricycle to bicycle configuration as the rider pedals faster, then returns to trike formation as the rider slows down.

More here including a photo

The bike looks a bit ugly but as long as it works, it’s a great idea!

Man Keeping Up With 15,250 Forums and 375 blogs Dies From Starvation

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

MAN was found dead at his computer apparently the victim of trying to keep up with too many professional forums. Childress H. Wanamaker, 54, an account executive at a New York-based new media company, died of starvation according to the West Nyack coroner’s office. Wanamaker’s emaciated body was found by Loraine, his wife of 26 years, who told MediaPost she had been bringing her husband meals on plastic trays for weeks, but that he never took the time to eat them.

[...]

Computer forensic specialists from SUNY at Cortland discovered that Wanamaker was subscribed to 48 different forums and networking communities including one apparently having to do with the elderly called “oldtimers” and another apparently limited to just 100 people. They also found that he posted a comment into one forum or another on an average of two per minute every hour of the day for the past seven weeks.

Morning!

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

Morning! I woke up, went to the window and saw the red van driving away. I went downstairs and got the “Sorry, you were out” card. It says that the time I can pick it up is on Tuesday due to the Bank Holiday. Bah. And I don’t know what it is. lol I’m trying to remember what I have ordered…

As I suspected… dull weather! The sun hasn’t come out yet. It’s hiding under the clouds. :(

Going to get some brekkie and catch up with the latest news.

Pub meetup

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

Tonight’s pub meetup went really well. There were more people than last month, mainly due to the warm weather. However we couldn’t get some seats at the outside pub as it was very full. So we was upstairs, and it was bloody hot. Luckly, we sat near the window where the windows are open. So we got some nice, cool breeze wind coming in.

Plans for tomorrow:

* Carry on packing stuff
* Go out in the afternoon if the nice weather stays this way

I’m off to bed - nite everyone. :)

3D X-Ray

Friday, April 29th, 2005

Wow… just wow

A revolutionary new x-ray machine which takes 3D pictures of patients is making diagnosis easier and cutting waiting lists.

The half-a-million-pound scanner has been unveiled at a hospital in Hastings.

The machine is being hailed as a medical breakthrough and is much faster than normal CAT scanners.

It takes 64 slices of x-rays of half a millimetre width to build a 3D picture of the body.

The technology is amazing…

Useful Tool Of The Month - Google SMS!

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

Google SMS UK

VERY USEFUL! I have always used Google Mobile to access their website to search for something and it eats up my GPRS time/costs.

Now they are offering SMS service which is free to use apart from the usual costs by your service provider. But I am on the 3,000 text a month package which means this is totally free for me to use. And it’s fast.

*thinks* Hmm, maybe useful for pub quiz… lol

Evening peeps

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

Today went well, I think. Work was okay, however managed to get some stuff done. Still the usual waiting-for-feedback-from-users - been a week and a half so far. I think I’ll tell the user to give feedback or I’ll close the job… *shrugs* wait & see tomorrow.

Ohh, some of you may remember my trip to London for the Imaging the Deaf Brain research - well I have received the images and when I look at it, it made myself feeling all funny… I don’t know why, but it just did. I will upload it soon for you to check it out. :)

Been measuring our stuff to see what we can fit in our storage area for next month. Looks like we can fit more stuff than we thought, so that’s good.

Anyway, going to upload the photos now…
