Howdy guys & gals, long time no write!
How are you all doing, people? Sorry for not posting very much lately, I’ve been busy with the house move, problems with companies (more on this later) and lack of phone line!
Lets summary:
Monday
Gas at the new house got cut off on Sat evening/Sunday. Thinking it was because the card meter has ran out, we tried to call British Gas to get them to send us a new card. But their customer service line was very busy. All day. Gave up. So we cleaned up the house, went shopping to buy some stuff for the house. Worn out.
Tuesday
Called British Gas again. No luck. Bah. So I called them via minicom number and got in. Explained the problem to them and they said they will set up a new account and credit it with £4. But then, they found out that the previous tenants has owed British gas “lots of money” so they can’t credit my meter. So they sent someone round to reset the meter on Wed. Gah, 4 days wait without hot water.
Went shopping, got digital box. Unable to get any signal, even on analogue TV. Bah, arranged a date for someone to install a new aerial.
Called BT to get the phone line reconnected and it was all done in an hour! The phone line worked well.
Wednesday
British Gas came & went without resetting the meter. He just left a note in the post, saying that we need to call again to arrange another time. He didn’t even knock the door! Grr, so we called British Gas yet again and got through quickly, complained and they promised to send someone on Thurs at 8am. Pah
Aerial man came, checked and found out that the aerial cable has been cut off for no reason. So, he installed a new aerial (as the old one was very rusty and in poor state) and rewired to the socket. Digital TV works! Yay! Watched lots of TV as we missed it since Sunday.
Thursday
Gas man came at 8:30am and reset the meter & topped it up with £4 credit. Hopefully our new card should come soon. Went shopping again and got some new shower stuff & shower curtain. Came back, waited for Argos delivery to come for the new sofa.
They came at 2pm, unpacked the sofa & sat on them! Looks good! 3 seats and 2 seats sofa. Blue in colour. And soft!
Had a look around the ‘net for ADSL providers and decided to go with Nildram due to good customer services, happy customers and very good service level. Ordered a package with them, and they will get BT to check our phone line to see if we can get ADSL or not within 7 days before billing me or cancel the order if the phone line can’t get ADSL. I’m hoping we can!
Once they confirm it, I’ll get a new ADSL modem & Router - all in one from DSLSource (thanks Damian for the help!)
Tomorrow, I’m hoping to go back home and collect my computers and my stuff. But I still need a workstation - can anyone recommend one? It needs to be a bit big to give me good space.
I think it should do it for now.
G’nite peeps, I’m off to watch TV now.
